C-K’s Olson, From, Barnes, Egger, and Cheney qualify for state track

Cody-Kilgore track and field travelled to Bassett, for the 2018 District-5 track and field meet. Ten area teams competed in the meet including Boyd County, Chambers-Wheeler Central, Clearwater-Orchard, Cody-Kilgore, Elgin Public/Pope John, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, North Central, O’Neill St. Mary’s, and Stuart. In the district track meet, only the participants who place first or second in open events, or first place in relays are invited to participate in the Nebraska State Track Meet at Burke Stadium in Omaha on May 18-19.

Emmalea Olson was the first member of the women’s team to qualify for the state track meet by placing first in the 3200m.

Tehya From also qualified for the state track meet with a second place finish in the 300m Hurdles. Tehya also placed sixth in the 200m dash. Kenzie Barnes earned points for the C-K women’s team and will compete at the state meet as an additional qualifier based on time with a 3rd place finish in the 1600m run.
