Lavina Jean Todd, 85
Lavina Jean Todd was born March 6, 1933 to Walter and Mabel Shelbourn in Cherry County at the Kewanne Table Top. She departed from this life on July 23, 2018 and welcomed to her heavenly mansion. Jean attended school at Kewanee and graduated from Valentine. She did secretarial work from 1951-1953. In 1953 she attended Chadron Summer School. Jean married Dwight Dean Todd on June 3, 1956. To this union four children were born Debra Jean, Charles Merl, Peggy Lynn, and Janet Marie.
Jean loved music. She sang with a trio of Edith (Holden) Bachelor and Judy (Wilkinson) VanGundy. They performed for many activities during High School. Jean directed the church and community choir for many years. She belonged to Church Circle, extension club and VFW Auxiliary. In 1997 she won the Heart City Heart Award. She received her 50 year pin of membership to the United Methodist Church in 2003.
Jean was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Merl; her parents, Walt and Mable; brother, Earl; sisters, Ruth Ahlf and Imogene Brandt; and husband, Dwight Todd.
She is survived by her daughters, Deb (Eldon) Reagle, Peggy (Richard) Boyer, and Janet Todd; grandchildren, Michelle (Travis) Richards, Mary Reagle, Maranda Reagle, Hannah Todd all of Valentine; Melissa Reagle (Rodney Murray) of Crookston; Sarah (Joel) Carpenter of Ainsworth; Great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ava, and Collier Reagle, Haylee and Emma Richards, Leighton Reagle of Valentine, Kolton Murray of Crookston, Leon Carpenter of Ainsworth; sister, Edith McCormick of Valentine.
A Celebration of Life Service was held of Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. Reverend Toni Nolze and Pastor Scott McClellen officiated the service. Burial will follow at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of the service arrangements.
