The 25th anniversary of Old West Days and Nebraska Cowboy Poetry Gathering started with a bit of a surprise...snow. Not just a bit of snow, but four inches or better, depending on which way you were traveling. Thankfully everyone arrived safely, but it did put a bit of a damper on the kick-off BBQ and entertainment at the Cherry County Fairgrounds. However, the OWD Committee said more than 100 people were served. The meal was catered by the Nollette’s of Niobrara Valley Vineyards who served roast beef, baked beans, and potato salad, which committee member Ann Krueger said, “was the best I’ve ever had.”
