Lincoln – An alliance of medical providers and child and education advocates released guidance on returning to school safely, classroom preparedness and stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Valentine, Nebraska – There are at least 18 insect pollinators that are deemed at risk in Nebraska. Pollinators include not just bees and wasps, but also beetles, birds, bats and even small mammals. The Niobrara National Scenic River, along with the Niobrara Council, is offering opportunities for the public to participate in scientific research on Friday afternoons at 1:00 p.m. CT. On Friday July 24, we will explore pollinators. Citizen Science events will take place at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center located at 214 W. Highway 20, Valentine, NE 69201, and will continue through July 31.
The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department held elections with the following individuals elected: Chief Terry Engles, Assistant Chief William Beel, President Tim Larson, Vice President Chad Bladow, Secretary-Treasurer Guy Tielke, Safety Officers Justin Dredge and Jeff Sayer, Captains Courtney Fowler, Ross Brockley and Chad Gale.
Getting around Valentine will be breezy with a bright red bike from Valentine Bike Share. The service is owned by Heartland Bike Share, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Benjamin Foltz is a co-founder, former officer, and currently serving on the board of directors for Nebraska’s statewide non-profit advocacy group the Bike Walk Nebraska. He also serves on the board of directors for the Nebraska Trails Foundation. He is a League Cycling Instructor certified through the League of American Bicyclists and has taught multiple bicycle safety courses to riders of all ages and skills. Benny joined Heartland Bike Share as the Special Projects and Business Manager working for both the Heartland B-cycle (Omaha Metro) and BikeLNK (Lincoln) programs, and then launching the organizations third bike share program, Valentine Bike Share, as the Executive Director.
LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts unveiled a new website dedicated to providing updates about the State’s response to coronavirus. The website features information about the State’s plans for coronavirus relief funding as well as links to key public health and virus testing information.
