Digging up Cody oily history

Off Highway 20 buried deep in the sand are years worth of history. As it unburies itself, so does the story. Flash back to the early 1950s, when Cody, had the railroad rolling through town. The train cars carried everything from visitors to oil. On a stormy night, three railroad cars overflowing with oil were blown off the tracks! Being too heavy, the crew was unable to recover the cars. To solve the problem the cars were emptied of the oil and placed back on the track. The oil was then buried. After years of being forgotten the oil was ready to be found! In 2019, the black bubbling oil resurfaced to attract more attention, “Load up the wagon Granny, we are heading to Beverly Hills!”
