Cherry County Hospital now has the ability to test for COVID-19, along with other respiratory ailments. They are also taking over the Test Nebraska duties and have three dates set up for testing: Tuesday, August 11, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.; Wednesday, August 19, 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday, August 26, 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.

Friday, July 31, 2020, was the day VHS seniors took the stage at Valentine High School gymnasium for commencement exercises; although the program was to have been held Saturday, May 16. COVID-19 took care of that celebration. But they still were able to have a celebration of sorts on Valentine’s Main Street with seniors on the sidewalk and a parade of vehicles honking and shouting congratulations.
Cherry County and the other counties that make up the North Central District Health Department - Antelope, Boyd, Brown, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Pierce, and Rock, have moved to Phase 4 Directed Health Measures which include some of the following. The Todd County air Board released a statement July 15, 2020, that due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic and increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in the area, the Todd County Fair Board has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Todd County Fair and 4-H Achievement Days.
Due to COVID-19, the Sand Painters Art Guild will be hosting their annual workshop a little differently. Instead of it being held inside the 4-H building at the Cherry County Fairgrounds during the fair, they will be holding it outside at the Valentine City Park, August 8-9, 2020.
