Walter Ray Rouse was born on August 25, 1953 in Big Springs, TX to Delbert and Ann (McHorse) Rouse.

He attended school in Brownwood, TX until the age of 16 and then worked as a gas station attendant and ultimately a mechanic, working on anything with a motor. Walter joined the Army entering on December 27, 1971 and received his honorable discharge on September 7, 1973.

Walter was very involved with the youth and worked primarily with troubled boys. By all accounts he was very good at his job and continued to be involved with the young people for the rest of his life. He worked a broiler at a plywood manufacturing plant, sewed gloves and even apprenticed at a tattoo parlor. Walter was also an over the road truck driver and loved motorcycles.

He eventually ended up in Ainsworth, NE where he met Angela Christensen. They were together for many years and on February 28, 2020 they were married at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bassett, NE. Walter loved his church and the people there. He was a man of great integrity and always brought “the party” with him.

Walter fought the good fight, never complaining, but lost his battle with cancer on August 8, 2022 and was called to God.

He is survived by his wife, Angela Christensen of Ainsworth, NE; brother, Hulen Hector of Kirbyville, TX; children, Tohmi Bible of Brownwood, TX, Tasha McCurdy of Brownwood, TX, Brandy Rouse of Brownwood, TX, Jessica Pike of O’Neill, NE, Denise Floe of Ainsworth, NE, Savana Christensen of Coleridge, NE and Ethan Christensen of Ainsworth, NE; as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ann Rouse; brother, Donald Rouse; and sister, Claudine Hector.

A memorial service was held on Sunday August 14, 2022 at 5:00 p.m., at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bassett, NE.

Clergyman was Father Randy Goeke with burial to be held at a later date in Texas. Congregation sang hymns and the organist was Mike Skulavic. Urn Pall Bearers were Chad Simonson, Ethan Christensen and Cole Gronenthal.
