The Ainsworth Lions Club hosted the 56th Annual A.H.S. All Sports Tailgate Party on Tuesday, April 23rd in McAndrew Gymnasium to honor this year’s athletes.

The KBR Rodeo Club started their 2024 Spring Season this past week. The first High School Rodeo for the KBR Rodeo Club was held in Hyannis on Saturday, April 27th.

Spring Trap League at Sandhills Rod & Gun Club

The Spring Trap League completed its second week on Wednesday, April 24th at the Sandhills Rod & Gun Club. After the second week of shooting First Class Auto leads with 411, Mob County and Ripley Chevy, both with 406, Weed Wackers - 402, Doug’s Mobil - 401, Hollenbeck Ranch - 399 and Buckley Steel - 398.

Ainsworth Boys Golf Team Competes in Triangular

The Ainsworth Boys Golf Team competed in a Triangular at the Bassett Country Club with Valentine and North Central on April 25th. Ainsworth placed third as a team with a team score of 195.

Ainsworth Boys Golf Team Competes in West Holt Invitational

Keian Fischer of North Central took individual top honors shooting an 18-hole 78 in the West Holt Golf Invitational on April 27th at the Atkinson/Stuart Country Club. Fischer beat out Logan Brabec of O’Neill, who also shot a 78, but lost to Fischer in a scorecard playoff.

Ainsworth High School Quiz Bowl Competes at State

The Ainsworth High School Quiz Bowl team traveled to Hastings on Wednesday, April 24th to compete in the ESU State Quiz bowl. Thirty teams comprised the bracket for the double elimination competition.

Ainsworth Track Teams Compete in SWC Track Meet

The Ainsworth Boys and Girls Track Teams competed in the Southwest Conference Track Meet in Minden on April 27th. Both of the Ainsworth teams struggled against the much larger schools of SWC.

Ainsworth Tracksters Compete Well at Norfolk Classic

Ainsworth tracksters competed well at the Norfolk Classic on April 24th at the Norfolk High Track and Field facility. Carter Nelson brought home gold medals in both the Discus and Pole Vault along with third place in the 200 Meters and was part of the 4x100 Relay team that took fourth place.

Commission Will Consider Big Game Hunting Changes

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will consider staff recommendations for 2024 deer, antelope and elk hunting seasons when it meets April 25th at Ponca State Park. A public hearing is scheduled for proposed amendments to Commission orders pertaining to season dates, bag limits, permit quantities and areas open for deer, antelope and elk hunting.
