Niobrara Cleanup and 35th Anniversary Program Set for May 23

Area residents are invited to jumpstart the summer on Saturday, May 23, by joining a community river and road cleanup in celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Niobrara National Scenic River. The event is hosted by Friends of the Niobrara in partnership with the Niobrara National Scenic River staff.

April 19th The Brown County Ambulance Association assisted the Brown County Hospital with multiple transfers of patients. The Brown County Jail released an inmate after completing a court-ordered commitment.

An accident involving two SUVs occurred near the 9A Spur in the Long Pine hills on Sunday morning, April 26. The area was experiencing heavy fog during the accident. Brown County Ambulance Association, sherriff’s office, and fire departments were on scene.

Jaylee Good Selected to Attend Cornhusker Girls State

Jaylee Good, daughter of April and Jason Good, has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State. This year’s session will be held on the University of Nebraska- Lincoln campus the week of May 31-June 6.

The state contest for National History Day was held on the campus of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln on Saturday, April 25. Ten sixth-graders from Ainsworth Middle School participated in the contest.

Dave Sherman was presented a certificate of appreciation for his 40 years of service to the Brown County Ag Society. Attending his award ceremony included (left - right): Jaydee Wahlberg, Craig Smith - District Seven Representative, Dave Sherman, Tyler Johnson - Ag Society President, Nicole Johnson - Ag Society Treasurer, and Dawn Wright - Ag Society Secretary.

Brown County Commissioners Hold Final Meeting of April

During their meeting on Tuesday, April 21, the Brown County Commissioners approved providing a warranty deed to the purchaser of property on Main Street in Long Pine. The county received a lot with a dilapidated building due to the lack of property tax payments over time.
