Brown County Sheriff’s Report

June 14th The Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Ainsworth Community Schools. The fire department reported that there was not a fire after walking the school and reset the alarm.

The Bluegrass Sound of Authentic Unlimited is Coming to the Gospel Barn

Prairie View Gospel Barn is bringing Grammy-nominated, three-time International Bluegrass Music Association vocal group of the year and video of the year Authentic Unlimited on Sunday, June 28. “I cannot emphasize enough how talented these men are and how excited we are to have them at the Barn,” Geoff Smith wrote on the Gospel Barn Facebook page.

43rd Army Band to Perform June 24

The 43rd Army Band is set to play at the East City Park on Wednesday, June 24. Admission is free, and there are no tickets required.

Long Pine Man Passes Away in UTV Accident

A UTV accident Wednesday morning, June 17, claimed the life of a 63-year-old Long Pine man. According to Brown County Sheriff Brent Deibler, at approximately 5:58 a.m.

Witten Painter Named KBRB Athlete of the Year

Ainsworth High School graduate Witten Painter has been named as the 2025-26 KBRB Athlete of the Year. Selected by the school’s coaches, faculty and A Club, the Athlete of the Year is presented to a senior class member who excelled both on the playing field and court as well as in the classroom and the community.

Ainsworth Star-Journal Welcomes Alumni Home

Those returning for the annual Ainsworth High School alumni weekend will notice a few changes to the Ainsworth Star-Journal. The Star-Journal changed hands March 1, 2025, after more than 40 years of being owned and operated by Rod and Kathy Worrell.
