Tire Amnesty Events Set for 2026

Stacks of old tires taking up space on farms, ranches, and back lots will soon have a responsible place to go. Two events, both funded through Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grants from the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment, will be held locally in the spring of 2026.

Nebraska Extension Commercial Pesticide Training Dates Set for North Platte

Nebraska Extension will offer commercial pesticide training for initial certification and recertification at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center in North Platte. The training program will offer multiple dates for initial training and recertification.

The North Central Development Center (NCDC), a 501c3 organization, serving Keya Paha, Brown and Rock counties, has established a fire fund for the Carl Chase family who sustained an electrical fire on 12/30/2025.

January 4th The sheriff and a deputy provided traffic control for cattle crossing Highway 20 west of Ainsworth. The sheriff and a deputy were asked to provide a civil standby for possible stolen items in Johnstown.

UNK Anounces Dean’s List for Fall Semester

The University of Nebraska at Kearney announced students who earned a place on the Dean’s List for the fall 2025 semester. Students who are on the Dean’s List must have completed 12 credit hours or more of classes with a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale.
