A tree removal project beginning at Merritt Reservoir aims to restore prairie habitat in areas choked by undesirable trees. Revitalizing the grassland will benefit plant and animals and open spaces for hunting, fishing, birdwatching and hiking.

No matter your opinion of immigrants, I think we can agree on one thing – having a federal detention center in Nebraska is not a good look for our state. The opening of the “Cornhusker Clink” illustrates that Nebraska is in full-throated agreement with the roundup and deportation of those who came to our country in search of a better life but in violation of immigration rules.

American Legion Auxiliary Holds November Meeting

The Ainsworth American Legion Auxiliary Unit #79 held its regular monthly meeting November 25, at the American Legion Post Home. At 7:30 p.m., the meeting was called to order by President Ashley Titus.

Free Farm and Ranch Succession Workshops Offered in Valentine, Ainsworth, and O’Neill

Nebraska farm and ranch families are invited to attend a free educational workshop focused on succession and estate planning. Hosted by the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline in collaboration with the Nebraska Department of Agriculture’s Beginning Farmer Tax Credit and Negotiations Programs, Nebraska Extension, and the Nebraska Farmers Union Foundation, these workshops are designed to help producers prepare for the future of their operations.
