Memorial Services will be held at a later date for Leslie S. Bomar, age 71 of Ainsworth, NE.

Sharon LouAnn (Burkinshaw) Carr was born November 6, 1935, in Burke, SD to Ivan and AnnaBell (Sherwood) Burkinshaw. She passed away on October 29, 2023 at the age of 87. LouAnn was brought home from Burke to join siblings Delores, Evonne, and Gerald at home. Eight years later, the family was completed with youngest brother, Harold. Much of LouAnn’s early life was spent in the eastern end of Keya Paha County. Specifically, the Burkinshaws resided in Brocksburg, and LouAnn attended county grade schools growing up. Traveling to and from school on the back of a skittish horse was a daily adventure. As a result, LouAnn did not develop a love for horses from this experience.

Jeanie Marie Carlson was born on January 22, 1958 to Raymond L. and Margaret E. “Peg” (Jamison) Carlson, the youngest of four children. Jeanie passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023, at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, NE.

Joseph Dale “J. D.” or “Dale” Harris was born August 8, 1955 to Iva (Miller) Harris and Harold “Jack” Harris in Burwell, NE. He passed away October 24, 2023 at home in Staplehurst, NE after a seven-year battle with cancer. Dale grew up on a farm west of Taylor, NE and graduated from Loup County High School in 1973. After high school, Dale worked ranch-related jobs and at the Sargent Alfalfa Dehy plant.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Kathy (Lutz) Johnson, age 67 of Meza, AZ. Kathy passed away on October 13, 2023 at Chandler Hospital in Meza.

Word has been received of the death of Marilyn K. Holmberg, age 72 of Ainsworth, NE. Marilyn Holmberg passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth. She was a longtime instrumental music instructor at Ainsworth Community Schools retiring in 2008.

Stanley Jerome Tuton was born September 30, 1938, in Mills, NE at his home to Dewitt and Bernice (Schoettger) Tuton. He passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, at the age of 85, after a battle with bile duct cancer. His mom told him he, “Weighed in at over ten pounds and held his head up the first day he was born!” He was self-admittedly an ornery kid, making all kinds of mischief along with brother, Gary and cousin, Larry.

Berniece E. (Duda) Fiala, age 95, passed away September 15, 2023 at Cottonwood Villa in Ainsworth, NE. Berniece was born April 25, 1928 to Peter and Victoria (Gregoroski) Duda in Ord, NE along with her twin sister who passed at birth. Berniece grew up on the family farm with four brothers and four sisters. She graduated from Ord High School in 1944 and began teaching.

Graveside Memorial Services for Jeanie M. Carlson, age 65 of Bassett, NE, will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10: 30 a.m. in the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery. Jeanie Carlson died Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, NE.

Memorial Services for Berniece E. Fiala, age 95 of Ainsworth, NE, will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ainsworth. Inurnment will follow in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Berniece Fiala died September 15, 2023 at Cottonwood Villa in Ainsworth.
