Surrounded by his family and the Ainsworth football team and coaches, Carter Nelson announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers starting with the 2024 football season. The 6' 5', 215 pound Nelson has been recruited by many colleges for the past year.

The team of Kathy Worrell, Stephanie Kinzie and Julie Micheel leaped into first place with a team score of 46.5 points in week five of the Women’s League Golf on June 21st. After spending four weeks in first place, the team of Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins dropped to second place with 40.5 team points.

Applications for paddlefish snagging permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission from July 1-14. The application period opens at 1:00 p.m.

Graig Kinzie’s 1-under par round of 35 topped the field Thursday, June 21st during Men’s League Folf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Kinzie finished one shot ahead of Cody Goochey, who carded nine pars for an even-par 36.

Nineteen teams competed in the annual Ainsworth Alumni 4-Person Scramble Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 25th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. The team of Cordell Nilson, Amanda Murphy, Jake Friedrich and Carter Camp shot a 14-under round of 58 to win the Championship Flight.

The 2023 Garth Swett Memorial Kickball Tournament took place on Saturday June 24th at East City Park. Shawn Fernau coached the winning team, SFC Legends.

The Youth Golf Program at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course, has grown to 72 kids wanting to learn about golf. This program is teaching the proper golf etiquette and how to use your golf clubs properly. Adults who have been assisting these young golfers this year are Julie Micheel, Wendy Wilkins, Brenda Konkoleski, Heather Lutter and High School Girls Golf Team Members.
