The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) announced today that Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for August 2022 is 2.1 percent, seasonally adjusted. The rate is up 0.1 percentage points from the July 2022 rate and is down 0.4 percentage points from the August 2021 rate of 2.5 percent. During the Ainsworth Bulldogs Homecoming Week, the Lady Dawgs were able to secure three victories. The Bulldogs traveled to Atkinson to take on the West Holt Huskies on Tuesday, September 13th.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs’ cross country teams picked up five medals in the high school division races and an additional two in the middle school races at the O’Neill Invite on Friday. The Bulldogs, shorthanded due to illness and injury, were unable to compete for any high school team honors.

The second week of Fall Trap League at Sandhill Rod & Gun Club on September 14th, had shooters dealing with a little south wind, but the shooters did quite well. The top shooters were Cassidy Zweibel - 46, Tyler Buoy - 45, Mark Gracey - 43, Perry Shaul 43, Heath Rudnick - 43 and Joe McCall - 42.

The Ainsworth Bulldog Football Team moved to 4-0 on the season on Homecoming, Friday, September 16th with a 62-0 victory over the Niobrara-Verdigre Cougars. The Dawgs took the opening kickoff and moved down the field to pick up their first touchdown on a short three-yard run by Carter Nelson.

Cooler temperatures and great competition were key catalysts for great performances during the Broken Bow Invite. With a cold front bringing substantial changes to the fall heat, the Bulldogs took full advantage of elements and competition in running seasonal bests across the board. In the end, Katherine Kerrigan, Payton Moody and Kiley Orton earned individual’s medals as all 14 Bulldogs competing bettered their 2022 best marks.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs won their third win of the season by defeating the Burwell Longhorns 34-12 on September 9th. The undefeated Dawgs hosted Burwell on a rainy Friday night at East City Park.

The Girls Golf team did not attend the Gothenburg Invite on Tuesday, August 13th. They are attending a tournament in Mullen on Thursday, August 15th, starting at 10:00 a.m.
