Coaches from the four fall sports, Football, Volleyball, Cross Country and Girls Golf, were contacted and offered the following information and comments on the upcoming season. Bulldog Football Head Coach Jessi Owen said he has 31 players out for football with eight seniors, nine juniors, eight sophomores and six freshman.

The Volleyball and Football “Sports Drink” Scrimmage will be held Thursday, August 18th. Volleyball will be starting at 5:00 p.m.

After 11 weeks of league play, the season came to a close on Wednesday, August 10th for the Ainsworth Women’s Golf League. Low scramble scores for August 10th were: 35 Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Rylee Pierce and Chelsey Peterson; 36 Ashley Martin, Lydia Allen and Rachel Schumacher and Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins; 38 Kathy Worrell, Stephanie Kinzie and Julie Micheel; and 39 Donita Painter, Darlene Ehlers and Linda Rice.

With four week’s of the Ainsworth Men’s Golf League, the team of Kevin Martin, Logan Leach and Brett Knoetzel remain in first place with a team score of 66 following Thursday, August 11th league play.

Ainsworth retained the Border Cup Saturday, August 6th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course in the annual match play event between the top golfers from the Ainsworth and Bassett courses. After winning the Border Cup a year ago at the Bassett Country Club, Ainsworth scored the 12-1/2 points needed to retain the cup in the closest matchup between the teams in the event’s history.

The team of Kevin Martin, Logan Leach and Brett Knoetzel remain in solo first place with a team score of 60 following Thursday, August 4th Ainsworth Men’s League. The team of Robbie France, Graig Kinzie and Troy Brodbeck continue in second place with a team score of 56.

Ainsworth Women’s Golf League low score winners for scramble format on Wednesday, August 3rd were: Low scramble scores were: 32 - Ashley Martin, Lydia Allen and Rachel Schumacher; 34s - Ann Hoch, Jen Martin and Wendy Wilkins; Kathy Worrell, Stephanie Kinzie and Julie Micheel; Devyn France, McKenzie Brodbeck and Katie Owen; 37 Calista Wilson, Jeri Graff and Kelli Kral; and 38 - Donita Painter, Darlene Ehlers and Linda Rice; Brenda Konkoleski, Danielle Palmer, Chelsey Peterson and Rylee Pierce.

On Saturday, August 6th the 17th Annual Dennis Roggasch Memorial Horseshoe tournament was pitched at the Rock County Fairgrounds. Fifteen pitchers were in attendance.

On a very cool, windy and misty day, 32 golfers participated in the Annual Ainsworth Pink Ladies Golf Tournament at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. The first nine holes was a regular scramble.
