For many years, Carnival Days have been held in Ainsworth. Main Street is blocked off for three days during the summer so the D.C. Lynch Carnival can set up.
Sheena Ferris Brings Sweet Specialities to New Coffee and Flower Shop

On the corner of Main and Second Street sits the newest place in town to settle a sweet tooth: Stella’s Floral and Sweets. The business, formerly Ainsworth Flowers and Gifts, changed ownership to Sheena Ferris in May.
Main Street Project Work Continues in Ainsworth

Carl Hart, NDOT Highway Project Manager, reported work continues to progress as planned on the Main Street Project in Ainsworth. The sanitary sewer, water services and storm sewer have been installed from Highway 20 (4th Street) to 3rd Street.
Memorial Day Service Held at Ainsworth Cemetery in Remembrance of Fallen Heroes

A service was held at the South Cemetery in Ainsworth on Monday, May 27th, in remembrance and acknowledgement of Memorial Day and soldiers who gave their lives during their time in the armed forces. Judy Walters, the American Legion Post 79 Commander, gave the welcome to the audience in attendance.

As SD’s COVID numbers drop, Gregory County stalls

As of Monday, the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the state had fallen to 1933, and hospitalizations were down to 91, although a virus research group ranks the state, with a total of 1863 deaths, among the top 10 for the number of deaths relative to population.

Nicholas is nominee for National Superintendent of the Year in Wyoming

David Nicholas was introduced as a National Superintendent of the Year Nominee at the AASA National Virtual Conference. Mr. Nicholas is a positive example of the district-level educational leadership that can be found throughout Wyoming. He is the superintendent of Washakie #1 in Worland, WY, and has been in the district for over 10 years.

Good education starts in the home. It starts with strong parents and strong families. We know that parents are responsible for a child’s upbringing and their protection. And COVID-19 underscored just how involved parents need to be in their children’s dayto-day education, as well.

A Note From Cottonwood Corners

The Supreme Court deliberated a little more than three weeks before they made a decision in the case involving the county seat conflict in Gregory County. The question as to which town was entitled to the county seat hinged on whether Fairfax at the time of the November 1916 election was the permanent or temporary county seat.
