South Dakota’s AG charged with three misdemeanors in fatal crash

South Dakota’s attorney general was charged Thursday, February 18, with three misdemeanors for striking and killing a man with his car last summer, avoiding more serious felony charges in a case that raised questions about how the state’s top law enforcement official first reported the crash.

Residents gather in SD to lament loss of pipeline

Residents and business owners upset by the loss of the Keystone XL pipeline gathered in southwestern South Dakota recently and appealed to three congressman to help restart the project. One of President Joe Biden’s first moves was to revoke Keystone XL’s presidential permit and shut down construction of the long-disputed pipeline that was to carry oil from Canada to Texas.

Where can you buy a six-pack of Busch Light tall boys for $50 and be excited about doing so? The Gregory-Dallas Chamber of Commerce’s Kegs & Corks fundraiser, of course. Yeah, ya betcha! The turnout was big, the beverages were tasty, the food was delicious, and the bidding was vigorous Friday evening at the auditorium at this fun annual event. Claudia Shaffer and Tara Engel were the bartenders extraordinary at the wine table.

As SD’s COVID numbers drop, Gregory County stalls

As of Monday, the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the state had fallen to 1933, and hospitalizations were down to 91, although a virus research group ranks the state, with a total of 1863 deaths, among the top 10 for the number of deaths relative to population.
