The word Allium means onion in Latin, so it is no surprise that alliums are ornamental onions. They send up stalks that vary in height by variety that are topped with an almost round flower head containing up to one hundred florets. Since they smell like onions, most pests like deer and squirrels won’t bother them.

Fire Departments throughout Brown County are teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) - to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Fire Prevention Week TM (FPW), October 9-15, 2022. This year’s FPW campaign, “Fire won’t wait.

Ainsworth Fire Chief Brad Fiala said, 'After consulting with other fire chiefs in Brown County, it has been decided to continue the fire ban in Brown County.' 'Due to dry conditions and going into fall, no fires will be permitted in Brown County. This includes the communities of Ainsworth, Long Pine and Johnstown,' said Fiala.

Long Pine City Council - Linda Albert, Dave Cheatum, Kathy Papstein and Andrea Collatos, met on October 4, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. in the Long Pine Community Center.
