Cottonwood Villa Wins Yard of the Week Honors

Bright, beautiful flowers welcome you into the entrance at Cottonwood Villa south of town. This yard is neatly kept up by their maintenance man Tony Lentz (right). Cottonwood Villa’s Manager Ann Fiala (left) is proud of the job Lentz does with the assistance of Paulson’s Lawn Service who does the mowing for Cottonwood Villa. Amongst the property one can find a variety of flowers such as petunias, hostas, New Guinea impatiens, begonias, roses, tiger lilies, sun impatiens, spireas and a weeping crab apple tree plus more.

Burn Ban Continues for All of Brown County

According to the Brown County Sheriff's Office a Burn Ban is in Effect for ALL Fire Districts. This Excludes the City of Ainsworth Residents Who Can Have Fire Pits as Long as They Have a Screen Over the Top.

Highway 20 Project Through Ainsworth Prepares for Phase 2

Carl Hart, NDOT Highway Project Manager, reported A&R Construction has been constructing sidewalks and grading up to the new concrete, as well as clean-up work in preparation for Phase 2 this past week.

Kora and Colinn Winkelbauer Win at the 2022 State 4-H Horse Expo

The 2022 Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo was held in Grand Island, NE at Fonner Park July 9th-13th. Over 350 youth ages 10-18 from over 50 counties brought more than 600 head of horses and competed in educational and riding opportunities.

Rylee Rice Recieves Doane Scholar-Athlete Award

Doane University Athletics is pleased to announce the Doane and Pflieger-Olson GPAC Scholar-Athletes for the 2021-22 academic year. To receive both honors, a studentathlete must be a participant in their sport for the full year and hold a 3.30 grade point average.

Gilliland and Linse Named to WSC Spring 2022 Dean’s List

Cassidy Gilliland of Ainsworth and Sydney Linse* of Springview were named to Wayne State College Dean’s List. Wayne State College included 1,190 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Spring 2022 semester.

Merritt Reservoir SRA to Host Spectacular Stars, Magnificent Moths Nocturnal Insects

Uncover the fantastic world of nighttime insects at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area, renowned for its dark skies, on August 4. The program Spectacular Stars, Magnificent Moths Nocturnal Insects will introduce visitors to the process of “moth lighting.” In moth lighting, a large bright light bulb and white bed sheet are set up.
