Westcott Residence Destroyed by Fire

Emergency responders were called to a fire north of Ainsworth on Saturday, March 23rd. The call came in at 8:00 p.m. and when firemen got to the Wayne Westcott residence north of Ainsworth, the whole house was engulfed in flames and it was spreading quickly to the garage.

Brown County Hospital Board Talks About Shared Birthing Program

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, March 18, 2024. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Kirk Peterson with members John Gross and Brent Deibler in attendance. Brian Delimont and Tate Schipporeit waere excused. Also attending was Mirya Hallock CEO, Lisa Fischer - HR, Erica Hasenohr - Manager Ainsworth Family Clinic, Robin Johannssen - Recording Secretary, Dr. Kenneth Wasmund and Dr. Melvin Campbell SERVICE EXCELLENCE Hallock shared with the members about Brown County Hospital staff volunteering at the Ainsworth Grand Theater February 23rd-25th.

Legislative Notes

This week in the Legislature was a productive one for my office. We advanced several important bills of mine relating to school security, elections, veterans, and public transparency. One that I am particularly proud of was the LB 43 committee priority bill package that we sent to the governor’s desk.

Nine AMS Students Compete in District NHD Contest and All Advance

Nine Ainsworth Middle School students participated at the district level of the National History Day contest at UNK on Wednesday, March 20th, and all nine will advance to the state competition. This year’s theme was “Turning Points in History.”

The 2024 Edition of Old West Days and the Nebraska Cowboy Poetry Gathering will offer a fresh, new start as the event joins forces with Valentine’s annual 1884 Days Celebration which will be held April 25th through 28th.
