BCH Retirement Plan Reviewed Along with Six Medical Staff Appointments Being Approved

A regular meeting of the Brown County Hospital (BCH) Board of Trustees was held Monday, August 21, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Tate Schipporeit, at 4:00 p.m. Other members in attendance were Brent Deibler, John Gross, Kirk Peterson, and Brian Delimont. Also attending was Mirya Hallock - CEO, Tad Stearns - CFO, Lisa Fischer - HR, and Tawny Allen Recording Secretary. Ruth Stephens - Consultant and Jen Schiermeyer - APRN attended. Corey Skinner - Radiology manager attended to present her department reports. Doctor Wasmund joined the meeting at 4:10 p.m.

Ainsworth Golfers Defeat Valentine Golfers in Annual Rolling Rock Competition

Ainsworth scored an 18-1/2 to 6-1/2 victory Sunday, August 27th against Valentine to win its fifth straight Rolling Rock at the Ainsworth Golf Course. In the annual match-play event featuring the top golfers from the Ainsworth and Valentine public courses, the Ainsworth team grabbed a 3-1/2 to 1-1/2 lead in the two-man scramble round, pushed the lead to 7-1/2 to 2-1/2 with four points in the alternate shot round, and got within one point of retaining the rock in the best ball round with four points to make the score 11-1/2 to 3-1/2 heading into the singles round.

There are more than a million acres of publicly accessible lands throughout Nebraska. The recently published 2023-2024 Public Access Atlas identifies and consolidates these public access resources for the benefit of Nebraska’s hunters, trappers and anglers.

On Monday, we were one degree shy of a record with 103, but Tuesday it was 104 degrees. It did cool off for the weekend. We received a few drops of rain on Friday .

Writing as Therapy

During the South Dakota Festival of Books, I listened to a group of five successful novelists discussing the art of writing and what they gained from creating those words. They all seemed to agree with journalist Malcolm Gladwell, who said that it takes some talent, but more importantly, about 10,000 hours of practice to become good at anything. They each also said that writing has given them joy and humor, an understanding about life and a sense of meaning.
