Sammy D. Ellis, 67

Long Pine resident Sammy D. Ellis, born September 9, 1955, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023. He was the middle child of Juanita Thomas and Homer Ellis.

Sammy served as a Sergeant in the US Army as a Paratrooper and later, a long haul truck driver. He was an avid fisherman, skilled gardener, amazing cook, and the best biscuit baker.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Thomas of Long Pine; his father, Homer Ellis; and sister, Sherry Ellis.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Stone, of Minnesota; his grandchildren; his brother, Dwayne Cassidy of Arizona; along with extensive family and the many friends in his community.

His larger than life personality and heart will be greatly missed. To honor Sammy’s wishes, there will be no services. We encourage everyone to celebrate his life and memory in your own ways.
