Stanley Guy McNabb, age 64, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Ainsworth, NE. Stan was born on September 15, 1959, in Twin Falls, ID. He and his brother, Scott were later adopted by his parents Richard H. and Luella “Jody” (Dixon) McNabb. Stan grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1978.
In 1979, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for six years. He was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, CA, and at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, HI, and served on the USS Cimarron.
Stan’s naval experiences fostered a lifelong love of travel and meeting people of different cultures. Following his military service, Stan worked for many years in Nevada as a union painter and then in home building and remodeling in Montrose, CO.
In 1998, he became a believer in Jesus Christ, a decision that changed his life dramatically. Stan became an active church member at Calvary Chapel in Montrose, CO, and met Miriam Barrow at a church function. They were married on July 29, 2000. They moved back to Ainsworth, NE, with their young children, Leah and Joshua in 2004 to be closer to Miriam’s family.
As an active member of the Ainsworth Evangelical Free Church, Stan served behind the scenes and led middle school youth groups with Miriam for many years. Because of his childhood experiences, he cared deeply about influencing youth for Christ. Stan became involved in the mission program at the church and traveled to Vietnam and later to Guatemala on several occasions.
Stan’s faith fed his desire to help people. He worked as a dialysis technician, a volunteer with the Ainsworth Fire Department, and an EMT with the Brown County Ambulance Association. He took early retirement from the Nebraska Department of Transportation due to a physical disability.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Richard H. and Luella (Dixon) McNabb.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam McNabb of Long Pine; his children, Leah and Joshua McNabb of Long Pine, and Amanda Dalton of Waymart, PA; his brothers, Scott (Veronica) McNabb of Helena, MT, and Steven McNabb of Port Angeles, WA; along with numerous other family members in Nevada.
