Niobrara National Scenic River is happy to announce a special event hosted with our partner, Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge, normally closed after dark. The 2023 Ainsworth Women’s Golf League wrapped up Wednesday, August 16th with their year end meeting. After 17 teams completed 12 weeks of play, the following were announced as the winners: (Left to Right): Third Place - Lydia Allen and Ashley Martin, First Place - Julie Micheel, Stephanie Kinzie and Kathy Worrell, and Second Place - Ann Hoch, Wendy Wilkins and Jennifer Martin.

Bryce Painter, member of KBR High School Rodeo Club, is the first recipient of “The Danny Daniels Memorial Rodeo Scholarship”. The scholarship is presented to a club member to be used for travel and entry fees.

Nick Martin had the low round of two-under during Men’s League Golf on Thursday, August 17th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. John Pierce, Logan Leach and Doug Weiss followed with evenpar rounds of 36.

The Ainsworth High School Cross Country Team will open its season on August 31st by hosting the Ainsworth Invitational at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. With the retiring of Head Coach Jarod Hansmeyer, Katie Winters and Trey Schlueter have taken over the duties as Co-Head Coaches.

Coming off a perfect 8-0 season and being crowned District D2-4 Champions for 2022 the Ainsworth Football Team is gearing up for the 2023 football season. Head Coach Jessi Owen commented about the upcoming season, “We return a lot of key pieces from last year.

On Thursday, August 17th, the returning letter winners of the AHS Girls Golf team competed in the first tournament of the season at the O’Neill Golf Club. This traditionally difficult tournament provides a challenging start to the year, but the Bulldog golfers proved they were ready for competition.

The KBR Rodeo Club competed in a High School Rodeo at Lexington on August 19th and 20th. Kit Painter took 7th place in Breakaway Roping on Saturday, August 19th.

Coming off an 18-16 season in 2022, the Ainsworth Girls Volleyball Team has five returning letter winners in Karli Kral, Kendyl Delimont, Breanna Fernau, Jocelyn Good and Cheyan Temple. Robert Magill lit up the course with a five-under round of 32 during Men’s League Golf on Thursday, August 10th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. Doug Weiss, Kevin Martin and Logan Leach followed with a 1-under rounds of 35.
