The Ainsworth Bulldogs, coming off a hard loss to Ogallala on the 22nd with a varsity team weakened by illness, participated in the Southwest Conference tournament beginning Monday, January 24th. Securing a win in round one in Ainsworth, the Bulldogs then traveled to Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte to compete in the semi-finals on Friday, January 28th and for 3rd place on Saturday the 29th.

Wayne State College included more than 1,200 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Fall 2021 semester. The Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team competed in the Amherst Girls Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Amherst on January 29th. Fourteen teams competed in the wrestling tournament with Grand Island taking first with 143.5 team points.

Ainsworth High School hosted the 2022 Ainsworth Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Ainsworth on Saturday, January 29th. Thirteen teams competed in the tournament.

Ever wanted to try ice fishing? Join the Niobrara National Scenic River and Valentine National Wildlife Refuge for the first Ice Fishing Clinic. The event takes place on February 5, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Watts Lake at Valentine National Wildlife Refuge. Registration is required and registration will close on January 28, 2022. The AHS Speech team saw a tough day of competition at the Broken Bow Invitational on Saturday, January 22nd. According to Coach Heather Lutter, “There were 21 schools in attendance, and this meet has traditionally been a very difficult contest.
