Martin Wins Club Match Play

Nick Martin (left) won the 2025 Ainsworth Golf Course Club Match Play Championship. Martin defeated 2024 champion Graig Kinzie (right) in the championship match Tuesday in a rematch from the 2024 final. Fourteen golfers competed in the double-elimination championship flight match play tournament. Jim Hoch defeated Aiden Jackman to win the first flight club championship.

Ainsworth Men’s Golf League Final Results

Brett Knoetzel’s 2-under par round of 34 was the best of the night during the final week of men’s league golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Knoetzel finished three shots clear of Graig Kinzie, who posted a 1-over par 37. Noah Graff, Heath Rudnick, Cody Goochey and Nick Martin carded rounds of 38, followed by Chester Smith and Rod Worrell with rounds of 39.

Ainsworth Cross Country Team Holds Annual Chicken Run

The Ainsworth Cross Country team held its annual race for the golden chicken in Ainsworth’s East City Park. Blake Hansmeyer completed the middle school mile the fastest, while Holden Beel and Reagan Moody were the top male and female high school runners of the day.

Volleyball Team Competes in Busy First Week

The Ainsworth volleyball team saw several teams in its first week of competition. The Bulldogs competed against Valentine and Cody-Kilgore in the 2025 Jamboree hosted by Valentine on Tuesday, August 26.

Bulldogs Drop First Home Game to Wildcats

The Ainsworth football team hosted its first game of the season on Friday, August 29, against a tough Hartington-Newcastle team. Several Bulldogs played well, including the likes of senior quarterback Chris Fernandez, who had 90 rushing yards and a touchdown, and sophomore Jacob Ortner, who had 129 yards gained along with a touchdown.

Nebraska Public Power District’s (NPPD) wholesale electric rates continue to rank among the most affordable in the nation. In 2016, NPPD began benchmarking its wholesale rates against others in the nation, utilizing a database maintained by the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC).

Firearm Hunter Education Course Offered

A firearm hunter education course will be offered by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission volunteer instructors in Bassett on Saturday, September 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

August Declared National Shooting Sports Month

On August 19th, Wendy Murphy, the Nebraska State R3 Coordinator for Pheasants Forever, travelled to Lincoln to attend Governor Jim Pillen’s signing of a proclamation designating August as National Shooting Sports Month in Nebraska.
