Temporary Open Fire Ban Continues

The temporary open fire ban at Nebraska Game and Parks locations continues due to widespread drought and dry fuels, persistent fire weather patterns and the danger of human-caused wildfires. Camp stoves and fire pits fueled by liquid gas, however, will be permitted effective immediately at Nebraska state park areas and wildlife management areas.

Aaron Miller Shoots Monster Bull Elk in Brown County

Aaron Miller harvested this monster Bull Elk in northern Brown County on September 24th. Miller said he had hunted for 20 days before he saw an elk and what an elk it was. Miller called the bull to within 20 yards before taking the shot. The green score for the bull was 386 with 51” main beams and it sported 20” brow tines. Of course Miller is having his trophy mounted. For American elk it requires a minimum of 375 points for entry into the Boone and Crockett All-time records book as a typical bull and 360 points to enter in the Awards book.

Motorists Should Use Caution to Avoid Collisions with Deer

Fall is the time of year when deer are more active. Crops are being harvested and deer breeding season is in full swing. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has tips to help drivers avoid deer-vehicle accidents and lessen the risk of injury or vehicle damage.

Ainsworth Girls Golf Team Hosts Quad

The Ainsworth Girls Golf Team hosted a Quad Golf Tournament at the Ainsworth Golf Course on October 1st. The West Holt Girls Golf Team won the 9-Hole Quad with a team score of 185.
