Ainsworth Boys Golf Team Takes to the Links

The Ainsworth Boys Golf Team hosted a Triangular with Valentine and North Central on April 4th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. Tanner Two Strike of Valentine had the low round of 44 to take first place.

Information Sought in Killing of Two Mule Deer in Cherry County

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking information on the illegal shooting and wanton waste of two mule deer in Cherry County, northwest of Cody, Nebraska. The mule deer were shot March 23 or 24 off of Hay Valley Rd.

Bighorn Sheep Lottery Applications Begin April 15th

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will accept applications for one 2024 bighorn sheep lottery permit beginning April 15th. A $29.00 nonrefundable application fee must accompany each application.

School of Fish Teaches Young People About Fishing

Fifteen young people attended the School of Fish held in Ainsworth on March 28th at the Ainsworth Elks Lodge. School of Fish is held every other year and sponsored by Sandhills Pheasants Forever, Sandhills Rod and Gun Club and the Ainsworth Elks Club.

Adeline Hladky Takes 4th Place at NE USA State Wrestling

Adeline Hladky of Ainsworth Wrestling Club earned a 4th place plaque in her respective bracket. Nebraska USA Wrestling had 2,630 compete in their state tournament in Grand Island on March 16th and 17th.

Winter NCPA Academic All-State Award Winners

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) is pleased to announce the student recipients of the Winter 2023-2024 Nebraska Chiropractic Physicians Association (NCPA) Academic All-State Awards. Since 2006 this NSAA Awards Program has recognized students who meet the criteria for nomination by their school in the season of their activity.

Hannah Beel to Attend Girls State in Lincoln

Hannah Beel of Johnstown has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State June 2-8, 2024, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Beel will study local, county and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 25,000 young women with handson educational opportunities designed to instruct tomorrow’s leaders in privileges and duties of responsible citizenship.
