OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska lawmakers kicked off debate Thursday, April 8th on a $9.7 billion state budget that includes more money for property tax credits and college scholarships while setting aside $115 million for a possible state prison to ease overcrowding.

Carol Woods enjoyed the lovely spring day on Saturday but the wind was nasty on Sunday. The lawn is greening, the tulips opened on Easter and the iris are really growing. The melody of the frogs on a nearby pond are enjoyed. Carol has also enjoyed the third group of indoor amaryllis flowers. Her brother, Jim Marsh of Ceresco, had 2 1/2 inches of rain this past week. His lawn is ready to be mowed. He recently had “muddy rain” from Oklahoma red dust. Car windshield was covered with it.

Last Monday, April 5th, we had a new record high temperature of 89 degrees. The weather changed and it was much cooler and we had a little moisture on Tuesday and Wednesday. Saturday was a beautiful day with warm temperatures and no wind. The wind has blown hard most every day.

On Saturday, March 20th, four Ainsworth High School students participated in the SWC Fine Art Festival Art Show that was held in Minden this year. This is the first SWC Fine Art Festival that Ainsworth has been able to participate in the last three years, because of weather and the pandemic.

The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) are pleased to announce the 15,358 recipients of the inaugural 2020-2021 Nebraska State Colleges Multi-Activity Student Award.
