Nebraska’s unemployment rate for June was 2.9 percent. The rate was down from the May unemployment rate and unchanged over the year. The national unemployment rate for June was 4.2 percent, down from the May unemployment rate and up 0.1 percent from the June 2025 unemployment rate.

Americans’ retirement savings targets are rising, but many workers say current financial pressures are making those goals harder to achieve. A new Schroders 2026 U.S. Retirement Survey finds that participants in workplace retirement plans estimate they will need about $1.2 million to retire comfortably. However, expectations often fall far short of that benchmark: 51% expect to have less than $500,000 saved by retirement, while only 30% believe they will accumulate at least $1 million.
