The National Park Service at the Niobrara National Scenic River is celebrating 35 years on the Niobrara. An art show was held to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Niobrara National Scenic River.

NPPD Hosting Second Open Houses for Ainsworth Wind-Bassett Transmission Line

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) will host two open houses on July 22 in Ainsworth and Bassett to gather public input for a new transmission project in the area. The open house sessions are informal and offer an opportunity to review project information and visit with project team members.
Former Ainsworth Resident Timothy Moylan Publishes Memoir

Former Ainsworth resident Timothy Harold Moylan announced the pre-order his deeply personal memoir, 'Rock Bottom Has a Basement: From the Bottle to Borrowed Time' on July 1. More than simply a story about alcoholism, the book is an honest account of addiction, depression, broken relationships, near-death experiences, faith, and ultimately finding hope through recovery.

Jake Graff is Areas New Veterans Service Officer

Jake Graff has been hired as the new Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO) for Brown, Rock and Keya Paha Counties. Graff took over duties as the VSO on May 30th and is serving veterans in the three county area.

Michael “Mike” Eurit has taken over the duties as the pastor for Ainsworth and Johnstown United Methodist Churches. Eurit was called to full-time United Methodist ministry, in the fall of 1982 - 41 years ago.

Surrounded by his family and the Ainsworth football team and coaches, Carter Nelson announced his commitment to the Nebraska Cornhuskers starting with the 2024 football season. The 6' 5', 215 pound Nelson has been recruited by many colleges for the past year.

Ainsworth Youth Golf Continues to Grow at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course

The Youth Golf Program at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course, has grown to 72 kids wanting to learn about golf. This program is teaching the proper golf etiquette and how to use your golf clubs properly. Adults who have been assisting these young golfers this year are Julie Micheel, Wendy Wilkins, Brenda Konkoleski, Heather Lutter and High School Girls Golf Team Members.

Nineteen teams competed in the annual Ainsworth Alumni 4-Person Scramble Golf Tournament on Sunday, June 25th at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course. The team of Cordell Nilson, Amanda Murphy, Jake Friedrich and Carter Camp shot a 14-under round of 58 to win the Championship Flight.
