The Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement recognized four honorees and inducted 15 new members during its annual banquet, held on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus in March. It was the first induction ceremony the organization had held since 2019, as the 2020 and 2021 banquets were cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Ainsworth Lions Club was held Monday, May 16th, at 12:00 noon at Local House 20. Eleven members were present. Lion Beatty lead the pledge, and Lion Spann lead the prayer. A motion was made to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried. Treasurer’s Report was given and accepted.

The weather has been nice. Since school got out on Thursday, it has gotten cooler. Warm weather will be back soon. Some people reported that their gardens got a little on the cool side on Saturday night into Sunday morning. I hope the plants will come back. I don’t know if the corn was up enough to get hurt or the pasture grasses got frosted.

Carol Woods had a busy week. Saturday evening, May 14th, Carol’s niece, Beth Ann Hernandez and husband, Stephen, of Flagstaff, AZ, stopped for a visit. They had flown to Sioux Falls, SD. After having lunch with relatives, they drove to Nebraska. Beth Ann was finalizing arrangements for their parents, Terry and Kendra Woods’, memorial service on Tuesday. (They passed away in 2021). Her brother, Matthew Woods, of Prescott Valley, AZ, drove and arrived late Sunday evening. He also planned to do work on his grandparents’ house. Beth Ann and Stephen joined Aunt Carol and friend, Don, for Sunday dinner. In the afternoon, Carol took Beth Ann and Stephen to Ft. Niobrara to see the buffalo. They were thrilled to see the new buffalo calves. We also stopped to see the Australian patented windmill in Valentine.
