North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) is notifying the public that the COVID-19 California variant (B.1.429) has been identified in the district. While the California variant is believed to spread more rapidly, the available vaccines are thought to be effective against B.1.429.

North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of four new COVID-19 cases in the district since last reporting period on March 4th, 2021: 2 - Antelope, 0 - Boyd, 0 - Brown, 1 - Cherry, 1 - Holt, 0 - Keya Paha, 0 - Knox, 0 - Pierce and 0 - Rock. The new guidance—which is based on the latest science — includes recommendations for how and when a fully vaccinated individual can visit with other people who are fully vaccinated and with other people who are not vaccinated.

As of Monday, the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the state had fallen to 1933, and hospitalizations were down to 91, although a virus research group ranks the state, with a total of 1863 deaths, among the top 10 for the number of deaths relative to population.
