Commissioners to Foreclose on Long Pine Property

The Brown County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, December 2, in the Brown County Courthouse meeting room. Board members present were Jeremiah Dailey and Don Painter.

Legislative Notes

On November 7th, I joined Senators Bob Andersen, Jared Storm, and Paul Strommen in a pledge to Nebraska taxpayers that we will not support any tax increase(s) that will grow the overall tax burden on Nebraskans.

Brown County Court

In addition to fines, each case carries $50 in court costs David G. Kramer, age 64, of Sterling, Colo., charged with speeding 11-15 mph over the limit, fined $125.

‘The American Revolution’ Inspires Hope That We Can Work Out Our Differences If you’re like me, you probably have tuned in the latest, excellent documentary by Ken Burns, “The American Revolution.” If there was only one reason to donate to public television, it would be to help Burns produce more historical documentaries like “The American Revolution,” and those on the Civil War, baseball and country music. There is nothing more interesting on TV, if you ask me.

State Mock Trial

Mock Trial is a chance for students to experience what it is like to prepare for and present a case before a jury. According to the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, “...they learn to evaluate information, respond quickly, and sharpen public speaking skills...By studying and understanding courtroom procedure, students...become more comfortable with federal and state laws as a part of the legal system.” Students receive a case in September and then are responsible for developing arguments for both sides.
