Shutting Out the Media, Denying them Access Leads to Bad Results There’s an old saying about government – “what is said isn’t so, it’s what is so isn’t said.” So that means that someone – maybe a state auditor, maybe a whistleblower, but often a news reporter – needs to dig in and find out what is really happening with our tax dollars. That’s why it was so disgusting to read recently about our “Secretary of War’s” crackdown on access by reporters to the Pentagon.

La Catrina is a symbol of social criticism, a symbol of Mexican culture, a reminder that death is the great equalizer, regardless of social status, gender, or external beauty.

Friends of the Niobrara Receives $50,000 Grant from the National Park Foundation

The Friends of the Niobrara have received a $50,000 grant from the National Park Foundation (NPF), the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. Awarded as part of the Collective Campaign, a cornerstone of The Campaign for National Parks, this grant will help advance Friends’ ongoing commitment to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the Niobrara National Scenic River—for everyone, forever.

Expectations High for State’s Pheasant Opener

Upland bird hunters across the state will go afield October 25 for Nebraska’s pheasant season opener. Nebraska’s diverse habitats and variety of opportunity continue to make Nebraska’s upland hunting seasons attractive to hunters and set it apart from other states.
