Barbara was born in Valentine, NE to William and Winnifred (Read) Foster on September 9th, 1939. She was the 10th of 13 children born to Bill and Winnie. Her childhood was full of family happiness, farm chores and social gatherings.

One day while out with friends at the general store in Norden, NE one of her girlfriends dared Barbara to throw a bunch of grapes at “…that good looking serviceman.” That serviceman was Orville Morlang, home on leave. The two were married October 11th, 1955 and moved to Blue Springs, MO. As a promise to her parents, Barbara finished school graduating from Blue Springs High School Class of 1956. Three girls Travis, Teresa, and Trudy were born to the young couple while in Kansas City. In 1960 the family moved back to Nebraska where their son David was born.

As a minister’s wife, Barbara enjoyed hosting fellowship gatherings for the New Apostolic Church congregation both at the church and in her home. She was renowned through the church community for her fried chicken, fresh cut corn, wild plum jelly and cinnamon rolls. She found great pleasure opening her home to visitors and providing love, care, a brilliant smile and a firm handshake to any and all she met. Barbara loved raising her children. She created fun filled birthday parties and helped her children host “carnivals for muscular dystrophy” in the backyard. She also enjoyed sewing matching dresses for the girls and leading or assisting in any activity the children choose to be a part of.

Barbara’s first job outside of the home was as a receptionist at Dr. Evan Evans Optometry Office where it was her great pleasure to assist those needing glasses. After retiring from the front desk, she worked in a variety of caring profession positions in the Ainsworth community. She enjoyed volunteering at the Brown County Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store, giving to the community through social groups she was a part of and humbly accepted awards for donating volumes of blood to the American Red Cross. In her later years even as she dealt with multiple health issues she could work circles around most anyone. She not only taught her children life skills she was a true example of not letting anything get you down. Barb’s grandchildren and great grandchildren shared many joyful times together learning from each other and creating lasting memories.
