North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of 531 new COVID-19 cases in the district since last reporting period on January 18, 2022. Case count update as of January 24, 2022: 8,777 Total Cases (TC), 7,418 Recoveries (R), and 99 Deaths (D).

The Ainsworth Bulldogs had a busy week with three ball games. To kick off the week of basketball, the 9-3 Bulldogs hosted the 0-13 Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades on Tuesday, January 18th.

January - February 2022 Thursday, January 27th 3:30 p.m.: Sing Around Nebraska Rehearsal. 4:30 p.m.: Middle School Boys Basketball at Valentine.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center has announced its Fall 2021 Dean’s List for students enrolled in nursing, dentistry, pharmacy and the allied health professions. To qualify for the dean’s list, nursing and the allied health students must be enrolled for 12 or more hours during the semester and have a grade point average of 3.75 or above.

Jolyn Pozehl and Tatum Nickless competed in the Battle Creek Girls Invitational on January 17th for Ainsworth High School. Pozehl increased her winning record with another first place finish at Battle Creek.

The Ainsworth Lady Bulldogs played three games this past week, winning two and losing one to extend their season record to 10-6. In their first game of the week, the Dawgs hosted Chambers/Wheeler Central at home on Tuesday, January 18th.

The 2022 Southwest Conference Basketball Tournament schedules for both boys and girls have been announced. SWC Girls Basketball First round games for the Girls SWC Basketball Tournament will be held on Monday, January 24th.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs played in three games last week, winning two and losing a close one, which improves their 2021-22 season record to 9-3. On Tuesday, January 11th, the Boys Varsity team won a home basketball game against the Boyd County Spartans by 34 points.

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot was held on Saturday, January 15th in McAndrew Gymnasium in Ainsworth. Contestants had to be at least 8 years of age and no older than 13 year as of April 1, 2022, in order to participate.
