Beginning in September 2020, the Museum board began serious discussion of a long dreamed-of project for a kiosk type information display about the former roundhouse site. The NE Game and Parks, which owns the site was contacted and we were granted permission to proceed. The kiosk idea developed into a plan for multiple interpretive signs with photos.

The Ainsworth Wrestling Team hosted Duals on Friday, January 28th with Twin Loup and Todd County. Todd County Ainsworth tied Todd County with each team scoring 18 points.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs, coming off a hard loss to Ogallala on the 22nd with a varsity team weakened by illness, participated in the Southwest Conference tournament beginning Monday, January 24th. Securing a win in round one in Ainsworth, the Bulldogs then traveled to Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte to compete in the semi-finals on Friday, January 28th and for 3rd place on Saturday the 29th.

Wayne State College included more than 1,200 students on the dean’s list for exemplary academic achievement during the Fall 2021 semester. Students listed on the Dean’s List are full-time undergraduate students who have achieved a GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale for the semester. An asterisk (*) denotes a 4.0 GPA for the term.

The Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team competed in the Amherst Girls Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Amherst on January 29th. Fourteen teams competed in the wrestling tournament with Grand Island taking first with 143.5 team points.

Ainsworth High School hosted the 2022 Ainsworth Invitational Wrestling Tournament in Ainsworth on Saturday, January 29th. Thirteen teams competed in the tournament.

Ever wanted to try ice fishing? Join the Niobrara National Scenic River and Valentine National Wildlife Refuge for the first Ice Fishing Clinic. The event takes place on February 5, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Watts Lake at Valentine National Wildlife Refuge. Registration is required and registration will close on January 28, 2022.
