Lexington Area Solid Waste Agency (LASWA) held a household hazardous waste collection at KBR Transfer Station in Ainsworth on Friday, October 1st. Items like pesticides, paints and thinners, auto products, batteries, cleaning products and light bulbs were all accepted at the waste collection..

The AHS girls golf team was in difficult competition last week with the Southwest Conference Golf Tournament at Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg on Tuesday, September 28th. The challenging course allowed for the team to gain great experience, especially with navigating the course to avoid the large sand bunkers and native prairie grass rough. Scores for the day are as follows: Haley Schroedl - 130, Shawna Fernau - 161, Jaden Appleman - 164, Jordan Beatty - 175, Allison Taylor - 191 and Hannah Beel - 180 (JV).

The Ainsworth Bulldog Volleyball team went to five sets against the O’Neill Eagles on Thursday, September 30th, but came home without the win. The now 10-8 Bulldogs dropped the first two sets, but rallied back to win the third and fourth sets, pushing the game into a fifth set.

The Sandhills Cancer Fund held its 12th Annual Riders Unite for the Fight Against Cancer fundraiser on Saturday, September 25th. Participants were greeted with warm, sunny September weather.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs traveled to Neligh on Friday, October 1st for a football game with the Neligh-Oakdale Warriors. Ainsworth got on the board first and made the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead early in the first quarter.

The Ainsworth Bulldog Volleyball Team faced four losses and went to 10-7 on the season after tough competition last week. The Dawgs hosted the Burwell Longhorns on Thursday, September 23rd and went 0-3 for the night.

Standings after the third week of Trap League at the Sandhills Rod & Gun Club, held on Wednesday, September 22nd, has Ainsworth Golf Course team leading with 636. Doug’s Mobil and First Class Auto teams are in second place with a 625.

The AHS Girls Golf Team had a strong finish to their regular season competition at the Ainsworth Triangular with Valentine and West Holt on Thursday, September 23rd at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course.

Ainsworth High School officially sanctioned the first Bulldog volleyball season in the fall of 1971, along with many other Nebraska schools. The NSAA held its first High School Volleyball State Championships the following year.
