Ainsworth Bulldogs Still Looking for First Win of Season, Following Defeat by Broken Bow

The Ainsworth Bulldogs hosted the Broken Bow Indians on December 20th and were handed their fifth lost of the season, 75-40. Broken Bow was hot right out of the chute putting up 32 points in the first quarter while Ainsworth struggled against Bow’s height and managed only nine points.

The Ainsworth Bulldogs were not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday, December 17th as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The Bulldogs took a blow against Valentine, falling 70-28.

Bighorn Sheep Management Hunt Applications Begin December 31st

Lottery applications will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission between December 31st through January 13th for a bighorn sheep management hunt. This hunt is intended to balance the current ram-ewe ratio and provide additional hunting opportunity.

The Ainsworth Boys Wrestling team was in Sargent on Friday, December 13th for the Twin Loup Wrestling Invitational. As a team, Ainsworth placed 11th out of 19 teams.

Jolyn Pozehl pinned Ava Cleveland of Summerland to take first place in the 115 lb. weight class at the West Holt Invitational.

The Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team placed eighth at the West Holt Girls Invitational on December 9th in Atkinson. Ainsworth scored 43 team points with Jolyn Pozehl taking first place in the 115 lb weight class.

Megan Jones took 2nd place in the 140 lb. weight class at the Sandills Valley Invitational.

On Saturday, December 14th, the Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team competed in the Sandhills Valley Girls Invitational in Stapleton, NE. Ainsworth came away with eighth place out of 24 teams and scored 60.5 team points.

Suttyn Zeigler landed this Master Angler Bluegill this summer on a Brown County lake. The 8-year old Zeigler caught the large Bluegill on July 4th and it tipped the scale at 2 lbs. 4 oz. and was 12 1/2” long. Yes, it is being mounted.

Carson Koch, wrestling in the 215 lb. weight class, placed 4th at the Anselmo-Merna Invitational. Koch pinned Andrew Hernandez of Elm Creek in Round 5.
