Firearm Hunter Education Course Offered in Bassett/Ainsworth

A firearm hunter education course will be offered by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission volunteer instructors in Bassett on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The free course will be held at the Bassett Legion Club at 201 Buchanan Street and continues on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ainsworth Rod and Gun Club. The lunch will be provided on Saturday.

Fall Trap League Begins at Sandhills Rod & Gun Club

The first night of the Fall Trap League was held at the Sandhills Rod & Gun Club on Wednesday, September 6th. Eight teams are participating in the league each Wednesday night through September.

KBR Rodeo Club Competes in Three Rodeos

The KBR Rodeo Club competed in three rodeos. Nelson Rodeo The club was in Nelson on Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd.

Birthday Wish

Last year, Ainsworth’s Head Coach Jessi Owen was absent from the game against Burwell when his daughter, Elsie Lynne Owen, decided to make her appearance on game day, September 9, 2022. This year, Coach Owen was on hand for the Dawgs 28-0 shutout of the Longhorns and so was Elsie.

Football Surprise

Jacob Stanley and Victoria Heath drove 832 miles from Dallas Fort Worth, TX area to surprise Coach Jessi Owen at the Burwell football game. Stanley was a college teammate of Coach Owen and was also in Jessi and McKenzie Owen’s wedding.

Ainsworth JV Football Team Defeats North Central Knights JVs 30-16

The Ainsworth High School JV Football Team hosted the North Central Knights on August 28th at the East City Park for their first game of the season. Sam Titus, #13, leads the way for Chris Fernandez during the Bulldogs defeat of the Knights. The Ainsworth Bulldogs JV Team came out on top with a score of 30 - 16.

Ainsworth Bulldogs Slay Madison Dragons, 66-0

The Ainsworth Bulldogs hosted the Madison Dragons for their second football game of the 2023 season on September 1st and shutout the Dragons, 66-0. Madison took the opening kickoff but couldn’t move the ball against a stiff Bulldog defense.

Revised Wildlife Predator Statute Takes Effect September 2

A revised statute allowing some Nebraska landowners to kill damage- causing wildlife predators becomes effective September 2. Predators included in this statute are badger, bobcat, coyote, gray fox, long-tailed weasel, mink, opossum, raccoon, red fox and skunk.
