OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ The nation’s largest food distributor has joined the other businesses accusing the four largest meat processors of working together to inflate beef prices.

Sixty-two young golfers participated in the annual Ainsworth Junior Golf Tournament on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. 6-8 Year Old Boys The 6-8 year old boys’ division had 15 young golfers from Ainsworth, Valentine, O’Neill, Stuart and Winner, SD.

Low scores for the Ainsworth Ladies League golf for June 29th were: 43 - Jen Martin and Brenda Konkoleski; 48 - Ann Hoch and Darlene Ehlers; and 49 - Calista Wilson. Low nets scores were: 31 - Liz Goshorn and a 32 - Ginger Brockman.

Four golfers blistered the Ainsworth Golf Course Thursday, June 30th during Men’s League Golf to the tune of 2-under par rounds of 34. Landon Welke, Noah Graff, Joel Klammer and Nick Martin each fired 2-under par rounds, with Tony Allen carding a 1-under par round of 35. Graig Kinzie shot an even-par 36, followed by Cody Goochey and Todd Kicken with rounds of 38 and Brett Knoetzel and Robert Magill with rounds of 39.

Taking part in the 2022 Ainsworth Youth Golf League were the following K-2nd graders. They included (Front Row - Left to Right): Keegan O’Hare, Sofeah Magill, Gracie Gillespie, Carter Johnson, Bentley Mashburn, Mindee King, Gracyn Peterson and Kimberlyn Doke; (Back Row - Left to Right): Ty Ruhter, Blake Sedlacek, Sutton Owen, Mathew Clingman, Elsie Graff, Bryer McNally, Duke Dailey, Henry Mashburn, Sophia Schroedl.

Joel Klammer led the field Thursday, June 23rd during Men’s League Golf at the Ainsworth Golf Course with a 2-under par round of 34. Klammer finished a shot ahead of Doug Weiss and Kevin Martin, who both carded 1-under par rounds of 35.

Low scores for the Ainsworth Ladies League golf for June 15th were: 40 - Jen Martin; 41 - Brenda Konkoleski; 48 - Ashley Martin and Darlene Ehlers; and 49 - Rhonda Theis. Low net scores were: 30 - Brenda Konkoleski; 31 – Brenda Davis; and 32 – Rhonda Theis and Tamara Hancock.

Users of the Main Ramp Area at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area should be aware of repairs there June 22-24 that will result in temporary closures. Water draining from the pullthrough near the ramp area has caused erosion undermining the sidewalk attached to the boat ramp, and immediate repairs are needed.

Applications for paddlefish snagging permits will be accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission July 1-14. Applications begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Kansas Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches Association has announced the track and field coach of the year recipients. Burlington’s Shane Clapper is amoung those who have been honored as coaches of the year.
