Emergency responders were called to a tractor/pickup accident east of Ainsworth by the Ainsworth Vet Clinic at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5th. Blaine Finney, driving a 1993 John Deere tractor towing a bale processor was eastbound and turning into the entrance to the Ainsworth Vet Clinic when the tractor was struck by a 2017 Ram 1500 pickup driven by Georgina Guadalupe Reyna Lomeli of Ainsworth. The pickup was also eastbound on Highway 20 and attempting to pass the tractor. Finney reported he had his left turn signal on to turn into the Ainsworth Vet Clinic drive. Lomeli told officers she didn’t observe the turn signal and was attempting to pass the tractor when it turned into her vehicle. A witness to the accident stated the Lomeli vehicle was passing the tractor when the tractor turned into the pickup. The witness indicated they didn’t see the turn signal either. The bucket was torn from the tractor and estimated damage was $1,500.00. The pickup was considered totalled. The Ainsworth Fire Department used the “jaws-of-life” to be able to remove Juan Carlos Gonzalez Reyna, a passenger in the pickup, so he could be transported to the Brown County Hospital. Neither drivers were injured in the accident. Responding to the accident were the Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Ainsworth Fire Department and Brown County Ambulance Association.
