158+ Years Dedicated Within Ainsworth Community Schools Warrants Retirement for Five Staff Members

As the doors close for another school year at Ainsworth Community Schools, there will be five staff members who have combined together, dedicated a total of 158+ years of service, and will turn in their keys as they have chosen to take retirement. For the last time, Laurie Witte, Caren Fernau, Cathie Pankowski, Deb Walker and Leanne Maxwell, will lock their classroom doors, district office door or the nurses door, and head out the door to enjoy retirement.

Nick Martin Cards 63 to Win One-Person Scramble

Nick Martin fired a 9-under par round of 63 on Sunday, May 21st to win the Championship Flight of the annual One-Person Scramble Tournament at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Martin claimed a one-shot victory over Jake Friedrich and Cordell Nilson, who tied for second in the championship flight with 8-under par rounds of 64.

Ainsworth Men’s Golf League

Martin Gonzales carded a 1-under par round of 35 to lead the field during the opening night of Men’s League Golf Thursday, May 18th at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Gonzales finished one shot clear of Brett Knoetzel and Logan Leach, who carded even-par rounds of 36.

The country looks so good with the recent rains. We have had smoke from Canada here in the area for several days this week. It is hard to realize that smoke can travel so far and do our health a bad number.

Senior Center Trashion Show Fundraiser

The Ainsworth Busy Club put on a Trashion Show at the Ainsworth Senior Center on Thursday, May 18th to help raise funds for the Center. Outfits of slacks, tops, skirts, dresses, hats and jewelry that they modeled, were purchased at the Ainsworth Thrift Store or from garage sales. Models for the day included (left to right): Alice Prososki, Barb Fling, Nancy Falk, Karen Herring, Patty Nelson, Carol Larson, Maxine Matter, Marilyn Baker, Bev Stahl and Cheri Bowen.
