Brown County Report February 26 - March 4, 2023 Sunday, February 26th Received a traffic complaint near the intersection of Rauscher Avenue and 881st Road involving a vehicle not stopping at the stop sign. The vehicle was later observed stopping at the sign.

Beware of False Spring!!

Warmer weather and longer days are starting to show up, giving so many of us hope and excitement for the new growing season. Even though it is very tempting to start yard and garden work to clean up from the winter, we need to beware of “False Spring”, where the warm days can be followed by cold snaps and potential spring blizzards that will visit the region at some point in March and April.

Fearing Death Can Cause Suffering

When in life does one come to confront the tough truth that each of us will eventually die? In my years as an internist caring for young and old alike, some people understand this early, and some people never get it. In denying death, we intensify our fear of it. Usually, however, it is sometime during their 50s that people first look into the eyes of death. Put it off as we may, the hard certainty is that we are all aging and one day an end will come. Shakespeare described advanced age in his play As You Like It, Act II, Scene VII (All the world’s a stage): “. . . Last scene of all, That ends this strange eventful history, Is second childishness and mere oblivion, Sans (without) teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”

Destination Imagination Teams Wrap Up Season

The DI recently held their end of the year presentation night! The students enjoyed showing their parents and family members what they had been working on over the previous months. Carol Woods has a few bare spots in her yard and can finally see her concrete driveway as the snow has melted off. We were Blessed with this moisture. It appears Spring is on the way as the maple tree is budding and the tulips are peaking thru. Next weekend is the Daylight Savings Time change. However, with the heavy fog later last evening it appears the weather is unsettled.

Question: How do I start raspberries from cuttings? When choosing the stems to use as cuttings, pick year old stems with four or five leaf nodes. If leaves are present, remove the bottom two or three leaves, this is where the roots will develop.
