Haley J. Hawkins, 18

Haley J. Hawkins, born September 17, 2002 is gone too soon. She will be sorely missed by all of her family, including Tara and Ryan Kay, Randy Hawkins, her parents, and Riley, Ivy, and Zachary, her siblings. She has grandparents, aunts and uncles, and countless others who will miss her terribly. Haley was a bright, beautiful young woman with her whole life ahead of her. Geneva M. (Kirk) Davis, 96

Geneva Madeline Kirk Davis was born April 16, 1925 in Mullen, NE and graduated to her eternal home on June 9, 2021. She was the daughter of Estes and Grace (Palmer) Kirk and sister to Kenneth Kirk. The family moved near Vetal, SD when Geneva was age 3 and then to Rock County, NE in 1937. She attended Dist. #44, 3 miles north of the family ranch and graduated from Rock County High in 1943. After obtaining a teaching certificate by completing what is known as Normal Training, she taught grades K through 8 in Rock County one-room schools.

Funeral service for Geneva M. Davis, age 96 of Bassett, NE will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Bassett. Burial will follow in the Duff Cemetery near Rose, NE. Geneva Davis died Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Southern Wind Manor in Pittsburg, TX.

Ralph Clarence Davis, 82

Ralph Clarence Davis, 82, passed away May 31, 2021. Ralph was born on February 19, 1939 in Ainsworth, NE to Clarence A. Davis and Lola Faye (Wheeler) Davis. The family lived on the farm northeast of Ainsworth. Ralph worked alongside his father on their farm until he was old enough to venture out on his own to other farmers.

William “Bill” Propst, 76

William “Bill” Propst of Elephant Butte, NM passed away peacefully in his home on April 23, 2021. Bill was born August 1944 in Ainsworth, NE to parents Henry and Gladys both of whom have been awaiting his reunion in Heaven.

Myron H. “Mike” O’Neel, 85

Myron H. “Mike” O’Neel, 85, of Ord, NE passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Joe E. Giles, 95

Joseph Lawrence Giles was born April 14, 1926, at the family ranch 1/2 mile west of Elsmere, Nebraska to Charles M. and Astrid E.

Darby R. Cook, Sr., 50

Darby Randall Cook, Sr. was born in Ord, NE to Dennis R. Cook and Susan E. (Ford) Cook on December 4, 1970. He joined his older brother Dennis R. (Rod) on the ranch in Taylor, NE where they lived until 1973. The family then moved to Johnstown, NE. A sister, Elizabeth joined the family in 1975. The boys loved to tease their little sister.

Joe L. Giles, 95

Funeral services for Joe L. Giles, age 95 of Ainsworth, NE, will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth. Burial will follow in the Purdum Cemetery. Joe Giles died Friday, May 21, 2021 in his home near Ainsworth. Survivors include: four daughters, Jo McCoy of Ainsworth, Karen Nance of North Platte, NE, Marcia (Rod) Speck of Gothenburg, NE and Erin (Terry) Allen of Ainsworth; eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren; sister, Ruth Sullivan of Broken Bow, NE; brother-in-law, Ted (Marlea) Keys of Elsmere, NE; nieces, nephews and other family members. Public visitations for Joe Giles will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Hoch Funeral Home in Ainsworth and will continue on Wednesday from noon until the time of services at the Methodist Church. Donald Engle Allen, 98

Donald Engle Allen was born December 23, 1922 in the Allen Family sod house in Brown County, NE and passed away on April 24, 2021 in Del Rio, TX. He was the fourth child of his parents Fred Albert Allen and Mabel Henrietta (Hewitt) Allen. Doctors Hewitt, Don’s grandparents, attended to Don’s birth and to those of his three siblings.
