The Ainsworth Junior High Wrestling Team competed in the O’Neill Junior High Invite on December 2nd. As a team, Ainsworth wrestled to 10th place. Individually, Nacona Shurter, Easton McMillian and Hunter McLeod brought home first place medals while Dylan Titus and Holden Beel took second place in their weight classes.

The Ainsworth Wrestling Team hosted a Quad Wrestling Meet with North Central, Burwell and West Holt. Landon Holloway, Ainsworth, went undefeated in his three matches.

The Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team hosted the West Holt Girls Wrestling Team on December 1st and won 24-18. Individual Results: West Holt Ainsworth 24 - West Holt 18 100 Lbs.

The Ainsworth Girls Wrestling Team competed in the O’Neill Invite on December 3rd. Jolyn Pozehl brought home first place in the 120 lb.

Ainsworth Middle School hosted an Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Tuesday, November 22nd. Ten teams from Alliance, North Central, O’Neill, Sandhills/Thedford, St.

Girls Head Basketball Coach Julie Micheel is looking forward to the upcoming season. “We have an excellent returning point guard and ball handler, good height inside and a lot of speed on our team,” said Coach Micheel.

The winter sports season begins this week for Ainsworth High School athletes. The first event will be a Wrestling Quad in Ainsworth on Thursday, December 1st at 5:00 p.m.

Ainsworth’s Head Coach for Girls Wrestling, Todd Pollock said he is looking forward to this coming season. With 20 years coaching experience, Coach Pollock is joined by Assistant Coach Oren Pozehl.

The Ainsworth Boys Basketball team is looking at a rebuilding year after losing six seniors with three of those starters. Coming off a 17-9 and District Runner Up season and in his third year as Ainsworth’s Head Coach Jake Nelson said, “We have five players with varsity experience returning this year in Trey Appelt, Traegan McNally, Carter Nelson, Morgan Kinney and Ethan Fernau.
