The Sandhills Rod and Gun Club started its Spring Trap League on Wednesday night, April 20th with nine teams. First Class Auto led the way with a 217, the Mob County Boys shot 210, The Weed Eaters broke 205, Ainsworth Golf Course had 204, Weed Wackers with 204, Ripley Chevy scored 203, Home Town Lumber broke 199, Doug’s Mobile shot 194 and Berry Creek Pawn had 192.

West Holt hosted ten track teams, including Ainsworth, on Tuesday, April 21st at the future track site of the district meet. The temperatures ranged in the 50s and 60s, but the wind blew most of the day.

Dates and Times Subject to Change April 2022 Thursday, April 21st 9:00 a.m.: Boys Golf at O’Neill Invitational. 12:00 p.m.: Track at West Holt in Atkinson.

AHS track athletes traveled to compete in the 61st O’Neill Invitational on Tuesday, April 12th. The 11 participating teams were met in the morning with fair weather, which disappeared suddenly in the afternoon when a front rushed in high winds and cooler temperatures.

The Ainsworth Track teams competed in the Sandhills Invite in Bassett on Monday, April 4th. The tracksters fought a strong south wind with cool temperatures.

Wednesday, March 30, 2022 was a special day for students of Ainsworth, Rock County, Keya Paha County, Thedford, and Valentine schools. Cody-Kilgore Unified Schools was included, however inclement weather kept them from attending.

Fisheries staff at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission again have started capturing spawning walleyes at Sherman Reservoir, Merritt Reservoir and Lake Mc- Conaughy to collect eggs to meet stocking requests.

The Ainsworth Middle School Invitational Track Meet was held on March 31st at East City Park in Ainsworth. The tracksters competed on a day with temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s with northwest winds at 10-15 mph.

The volleyball coaches have been selected to lead the West and East teams for the 38th annual West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball Game. Leading the East team will be Samantha Hammond from Lexington.

Area track teams fought 25-35 mph winds with temperatures in the mid 50’s during the 11th Annual Ainsworth Relays at Ainsworth’s East City Park on March 25th. O’Neill won the Girls events with a team score of 86 with seven schools competing while West Holt won the boys events with a team score of 94.
