Observations of the September 3rd, 2021 State Board of Education (SBOE) Meeting

“The State Board of Education hereby postpones the development of Health Education Standards. The State Board of Education received substantial input on the draft Health Education Standards and recognizes that now is not the time to continue the process. Furthermore, the COVID-19 pandemic has placed varied demands on school districts, parents and families, and communities. The intent of the State Board of Education is to determine the most appropriate time to address Health Education Standards after taking into consideration the state of the local school stakeholders. The decision to continue the process of developing Health Education Standards must be supported by a majority vote of the State Board of Education.”

Ainsworth Girls Golf Team Continues Competition

The members of the AHS Girls Golf team had a busy two weeks of competition! The team was in action on Tuesday, September 7th at the Broken Bow Invite and Thursday, September 9th at the West Holt Invite. At Broken Bow, all competing golfers shot a personal record.

Martin, Martin and Knoetzel Win Ainsworth Men’s League Golf

The team of Kevin Martin, Hunter Martin and Brett Knoetzel edged into first place by one point and won the 2021 Ainsworth Men’s League Golf on the last night of Men’s League, September 9th, with a team score of 70.

Ainsworth Golfers Retain Rolling Rock Over Valentine Golfers, 16 1/2 - 81/2

Ainsworth retained the Rolling Rock on Sunday, September 19th over Valentine, 16 1/2 - 8 1/2, in the annual match play golf event featuring the top golfers from the Ainsworth and Valentine courses. Held at the Ainsworth Municipal Golf Course, the two teams finished tied after the scramble round at 2-1/2.

ACS Per-Pupil Cost As or More Efficient Than Nearby Schools

According to the 2019-2020 data on per-pupil expenditure, the Ainsworth School District is as, if not more, efficient than neighboring school districts. The per-pupil cost is calculated by dividing the current expenditures over the entire academic year by the total number of students. Following is a comparison of select neighboring school districts’ per-pupil cost based on Average Daily Membership (ADM):

Doug’s Mobil Leads Trap League After Second Week

The second night of Trap League was shot in a little bit of wind on Wednesday, September 15th at the Sandhills Rod & Gun Club. Standings after week two are Doug’s Mobil - 426, First Class Auto - 425, Ainsworth Golf Club - 419, Mob County - 416, Weed Wackers - 406, Weed Eaters - 397, Berry Creek Pawn - 388, Ripley Chevy 385, Ainsworth Redi Mix - 374 and Zingers - 370.

Ainsworth Bulldog Cross Country Teams Collect a Pair of Runner-up Finishes at O’Neill

The Ainsworth Cross Country teams took advantage of beautiful weather at the O’Neill Invitational en route to collecting three runnerup and a third-place team finish on Friday, September 17th. The seasonably cooler weather also would allow 15 seasonal best times for the Bulldogs as they earned 12 individual laurels from the meet.
